TANE's History
In the spring of 2009, I attended a children’s wear trade show. In my small suitcase were samples of my very first collection for TANE organics. I was equal parts terrified and excited. Since that first day, it has been an incredible journey, full of ups and downs, laughter and tears, and one I shall love and cherish forever.
"I HAD A VISION OF INFANTS ENVELOPED IN WONDERFULLY SOFT, MINIMALIST, NON-TOXIC AND SUSTAINABLE CLOTHING, MADE WITH LOVE FROM START TO FINISH."
A few years prior to TANE’s first show, I became intimately aware of a void in the children’s marketplace. In terms of well thought out apparel designs for infants and toddlers, particularly in certified organic cotton fabric, there was very little to choose from. Children’s attire was, for the most part, relegated to being necessary but uninspired products rather than mindfully well-intended designs. There were few exceptions – a few reputable brands in Europe, mostly in France. As design is in my DNA, I knew I could make a meaningful difference in the space with a well-designed and curated collection for children, focusing on thoughtfully conceived, sophisticated, high comfort styles. I had a vision of infants enveloped in wonderfully soft, minimalist, non-toxic and sustainable clothing, made with love from start to finish.
Passionate about actionable storytelling and sharing inspirations that translate to products, I excel in developing stitches and creating texture and fabric weight to effectively deliver styles true to the TANE aesthetic. Knitwear allows me the freedom to play and create smarter designs from the very beginning, with limitless possibilities. The luxurious and pure hand feel of knitted organic cotton is the perfect material for children’s apparel.
"As resonates consistently across the descriptions above, respect for Mother Earth and its citizens is intentional and stands as the founding
principal of TANE organics."
At about the time of TANE’s inception, I traveled to Peru with a connection focused on promoting fair trade practices. Immediately impressed by the history, artistry, and imagery of Peruvian artisans, I knew I wanted to honor, and to build the TANE brand based on the qualities therein - mutual love and appreciation for textiles, heirloom hand-knit details, and high quality knitwear techniques. TANE products were envisioned to be produced in an empowered and healthy ecosystem. For me, the biggest reward is knowing that TANE garments are being passed down, gifted, and upcycled because their design and quality have endured.
Delivering highest quality children’s wear by partnering with artisans who receive fair trade wages and use the highest quality certified organic cotton, combined with keeping the supply chain in one place, is by design. My work, my passion, my business continue to make environmental and social impact. I am devoted to creating sustainable clothing with ethical values, and intentionally crafting timeless and practical high quality pieces with TANE organics.

Looking to the future, I am thrilled to continue my partnership with TANE wholesale accounts, develop new accounts, and to establish a complementary, more direct link to retail consumers. These intimate connections allow for better designs and a stronger, more open and authentic dialogue. Together, we can share a vision of cleaner, healthier, and kinder earth. One that our children will inherit. This is the origin and why I created TANE organics. This is why small businesses matter. And this is why my exciting journey continues.
